Bryan Ashton

Director — Student and Institutional Success

Bryan currently serves as the Director of TG’s Student and Institutional Success team after working in various roles on campus at a large Midwestern urban university. Previously Bryan led a nationally recognized financial education program and has worked with numerous colleges and universities to develop programs. Bryan leads TG’s efforts to assist institutions and students in reducing the financial barriers to student success. He is active on the national level, helping advance conversations about the need for financial support services to be involved in college service planning.

Manuel Gonzalez, Ph.D.

Institutional Support Consultant

Manny currently serves as an Institutional Support Consultant on TG’s Student and Institutional Success team after working in various higher education advocacy and student support capacities across the country. His areas of professional expertise include higher education policy, academic and student services, diversity education, and community outreach. Manny’s academic and research efforts have centered on student success initiatives, equity and access to higher education for underrepresented communities, college affordability, and the graduate student experience. Manny serves in a project management capacity, assisting higher education institutions in developing campus policies and procedures aimed at improving student outcomes related to persistence, retention, and graduation.

Cindy Marrs, MA, AFC

Financial Education Consultant

Cindy has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of roles within financial aid administration, policy, default prevention, and student financial education. At TG, Cindy works with schools to initiate and support cross-campus alliances to develop innovative student debt management and financial education strategies. She has also assisted in the development, operational planning, and implementation of long-term, comprehensive campus-based student success initiatives for schools participating in the Texas Student Loan Default Prevention Pilot Program.

Richard Sapp, AFC

Financial Education Consultant

Richard has been with TG for more than 24 years. During his tenure, he has coordinated TG’s pre-college outreach initiatives and has collaborated with secondary and postsecondary schools, nonprofit, community- and faith-based organizations, and state and national organizations that promote and provide access to higher education. He works closely with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and other service-minded organizations and agencies to help families navigate the processes to enroll in, pay for, and succeed in higher education. Richard provides financial education to institutions and students via TG’s Train-the-Trainer modules and works with institutions to assist their students in areas of financial literacy, wise borrowing, and repayment of student loans.
