For nearly 40 years, we have served student loan borrowers and higher education institutions as Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (TG). You may wonder ‘why’ we are doing this. The explanation is simple. The landscape of higher education and student lending has changed. As Trellis Company, we are embracing those changes and building a broader scope of educational services to support colleges and students. We’re excited to support your needs.

What do you need to do?

Frequently Asked Questions

Has my loan been sold to Trellis Company?

No. Your TG loan has not changed hands. Although our company name and logo are different, your loan is still with us. We are here to help you successfully repay your federal student loan.

Does this change my loan or what I owe?

No. There are no changes to your actual loans, repayment amounts, payment schedules, or anything else associated with your account. However, you will start to see Trellis Company on letters, invoices, and other communications.

Who do I send my payment to?

If you pay by check, make out your check to Trellis Company. The mailing address for payments has not changed. Send payments to:

What if I sent my payment to TG?

No worries. Checks made payable to TG or Trellis Company will work. And the mailing address has not changed. Payments still go to:

Will the TG.org website still work?

Yes. For a while, you’ll still be able to use the TG web address, but please bookmark the new site – www.trelliscompany.org.

If the name is changing, why do some of the letters, forms, and envelopes say TG?

The name change will take a little time. You will see both TG and Trellis Company logos and references on many communication pieces. Rest assured that the information is accurate and the company is still the same.

If I pay my student loan through the myTG portal, will it still work?

The myTG has transitioned to myTrellis. Going to myTG will redirect you to the new payment portal. You should update your bookmarks and use myTrellis to make payments.

What are the call center hours?

Will schools continue to receive support from Trellis Company?

Yes. This name change reflects a broadening of our commitment to higher education. We remain strongly committed to making a meaningful impact on student access and success in higher education.

Will Trellis Company function as a nonprofit?

Yes, we remain a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

Are there other organization changes? Do I have a new point of contact?

No, there is no impact to the organization. Operations, contacts, and relationships continue as they were before, now under the Trellis Company name.

Will collateral be updated to reflect the new company name?

Collateral will be updated as necessary.

What should I do with my old TG collateral?

You may continue to use it for a short while. Contact information and website links will continue to work. Please contact us when you need new collateral.

Should I remove TG references from my website and add Trellis Company?

Yes, you can replace ‘TG’ with ‘Trellis Company.’ If you need the Trellis Company logo, please contact communications@trelliscompany.org.

Will the name change impact my team or who they usually work with at TG?

Other than contact information and web bookmarks, the name change has no impact on school staff or our commitment to supporting your institution.

You will want to update email address contacts to @trelliscompany.org. Emails sent to the old @tgslc address will redirect to the new email address during a transition period.

The company website domain has also changed to trelliscompany.org. Old TG web pages will redirect to the new Trellis website for a while.

Will Trellis Company continue to produce education-related research?

Yes. Our commitment to higher education research, especially research focused on the impact of student debt, remains unchanged. Several new studies are due out this year.

Has your official Guarantor (GA) Code changed?

No. Our guarantor (GA) code is not changing. We will continue to use GA Code 000748.

Will Trellis Company function as a nonprofit?

Yes, we remain a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

Is Trellis Company your new legal name?

Our legal name will continue to be Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation. We will remain a nonprofit. We are only changing what is referred to as our ‘familiar’ name, similar to when we started using ‘TG.’ We will be doing business as Trellis Company.

What changes should we make on our end?

Any changes are anticipated to be small, and for the most part, focused around the change in our name and our logo. For example, if you have used the TG name and logo before, please replace it with Trellis Company and our new logo now. In addition, company email addresses will be updated to @trelliscompany.org (although the old @tgslc email will continue to work through a transition period).

If you need a copy of our new logo, email communications@trelliscompany.org or work through your normal contact person.

Has your official Guarantor (GA) Code changed?

No. Our guarantor (GA) code is not changing. We will continue to use GA Code 000748.

Why are you changing your name?

The landscape of higher education and student lending has changed. As Trellis Company, we are embracing those changes and building a broader scope of educational services to support colleges and students. Our goal is to create an environment in which students and institutions can successfully navigate the complexities of today’s higher education market.

Why Trellis Company?

The core name ‘Trellis’ represents growth, potential, and adaptability, which are the positive traits we will display to our customers and potential customers. It also represents strength, guidance, and partnership, which are the positive traits of TG’s heritage that are also a big part of who we are.

How is Trellis Company different from TG?

In many ways they are the same. TG will always be a central part of who we are. In renaming the company and changing the brand, it was very important to bring the ‘best of TG and our heritage’ with us. Trellis Company is made up of all the great parts of TG, along with all the potential and opportunities of our future.

Are you still a nonprofit?

Yes, we remain a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

Does the name change mean that you are moving away from higher education?

No, it does not. If anything, this change will help us to expand our support to the higher education community due to a better ability to work on a more national level and offer more services.

What happens to the ‘TG’ name?

The TG name has been retired. Trellis Company is our new name going forward, inside and outside the company, as of November 1, 2017. That doesn’t mean you won’t see ‘TG’ or ‘TGSLC’ on some systems and documents. This name change and transition will take some time.
