Research shows that poverty is the leading barrier to certificate/degree completion for students across the country. College students are increasingly required to make difficult decisions regarding their college aspirations as a result of basic-needs insecurity. In an effort to combat this instability, higher education institutions are looking to create campus-based advocacy centers to provide wrap-around services and proactive solutions to assist students during periods of extreme vulnerability.
